To use a desk phone or cordless phone with your bOnline phone system, you need to connect it to the internet through your router. This article explains how to connect your handset and what to do if you see an error message.
How to connect your handset
- Connect an Ethernet cable to a LAN (yellow) port on your router.

- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Internet port on your IP phone.

- Wait for the phone to power on and connect to the network.
Common error messages
If your IP phone is not connected to the internet, you may see one of the following messages on the screen:
- Failed To Connect
- Failed To Retrieve IP
- Retrieving Network
- Obtaining IP

If you see any of these messages, check the following:
- The Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the router and the phone.
- The cable is connected to a LAN port on the router, not the WAN port.
- The router is powered on and connected to the internet.
- Try a different Ethernet cable or a different LAN port on the router.
