This article explains how to set up the bOnline mobile app for the first time on an Android device. It applies to all bOnline customers using an Android phone.
When you open the app for the first time, you will be asked to grant a number of permissions. It is recommended that you allow all of them so the app works correctly.
Granting Permissions on First Launch
Work through each permission screen in order when the app first opens.
- Welcome screen - Tap Continue to accept the bOnline terms of use.

- Contacts - Allow the app access to your contacts. This makes it easier to search for people when making calls.

- Microphone and camera - Allow access so you can make and receive calls.

- Notifications - Allow the app to notify you of incoming calls and messages.

- Battery optimisation - Allow the app to disable battery optimisation. This is specific to Android and lets the app run in the background so you do not miss calls.

Once you have granted all permissions, tap Use bOnline to continue to the login screen.
Logging in for the First Time
To log in, enter your email address and your 6-digit PIN.

Checking Battery Optimisation is Turned Off
After logging in, it is worth confirming that battery optimisation has been disabled correctly. This ensures the app keeps running in the background and you receive all incoming calls.
To check:
- Open the app menu and go to Advanced Settings.
- Look for Battery Optimisation. There should be a green tick next to it, confirming it is turned off.

If there is no green tick, tap the setting and follow the on-screen prompt to disable battery optimisation.
